Student Registration

In order to ensure that Splendora ISD resources are being utilized for students who reside in Splendora ISD, all students in the following categories will be required to provide proof of residency, as established by SISD Board Policy FD.

• All new students to SISD
• Returning SISD students that will be incoming Kindergarten, 6th, 7th, and 9th graders
• Returning students with a change of address
• *Any student enrolled with a lease agreement will be required to submit an updated lease annually with the following information included - start and end date (no less than a 6-month duration and month-to-month leases are not accepted). The lease must list both the parent/guardian and the children as occupants. The lease must state who is responsible for utilities and must be signed by the property owner, parent/guardian and notarized. The lease must be sent in its entirety. SISD employees will not notarize leases.

Under Texas Education Code §25.001(b)(1), a student is entitled to admission if the student and either parent reside in the district. This document provides information on the forms needed to help prove residency requirements.

Texas Education Code §25.001(b) (2-9) identifies other circumstances under which a student may be enrolled. A student enrolled under the TEC §25.001(b) (2-9) provisions will require additional forms to be completed, such as, but not limited to, Shared Residency Affidavit or Power of Attorney. Any special circumstance may be discussed with a school administrator and/or designee (such as the registrar). 

Failure to produce the required documents for admission and enrollment may result in an investigation by school officials to determine the residency eligibility of the student and both parents. The investigation may include home visits by a school official or School Resource Officer (SRO). The residency procedures outlined in this document do not apply to homeless students. 

*If Splendora ISD determines documents were falsified and the student was not a resident of SISD, the student will be required to withdraw from Splendora ISD within 10 days. Splendora ISD may pursue legal action against a parent for the amount the district has budgeted for each student as maintenance and operating expenses under TEC §25.001(h)(2) for the period the ineligible student was enrolled in a SISD school.

All applicants must submit one document from Category A, one document from Category B, and one from Column C in the legal guardian's name:

Category A:

• Mortgage Statement from last 30 days
• Property tax statement from the current year
• Executed Contract (closing within 45 days)
• Notarized Lease Agreement
  • The lease agreement must: 
    • be between the homeowner and the parent/guardian
    • have the student listed as an occupant
    • show the start and end date
    • be for a minimum of 6 months
    • specify who is responsible for utilities
    • be signed, dated, and notarized by a non-district employee
    • must be submitted in its entirety

Category B:

A utility bill or work order dated within the past 30 days:

• Gas Bill
• Electric Bill
• Landline Phone Bill
• Internet Bill

We do not accept cell phone, cable, insurance, or water bills. Termination notices are also not accepted. 

Category C:

• Valid Texas driver’s license with matching address
• Valid Texas photo identification card with matching address

The Proof of Residency must be in the property owner’s name; if this person does not have legal responsibility for the child (such as the name of the person with whom you are living), then a Shared Residency Affidavit is required.  A Shared Residency Affidavit can be obtained through the campus registrars by appointment only.  Click the link here to view the Shared Residency Affidavit Procedure.
