Volunteer Program
Reminder: We truly value the incredible contribution of our school volunteers! Please note that the deadline to submit a Volunteer Application for this school year is April 30, 2026.
If you are planning to join your child on any field trips before the end of the school year, please ensure your application is completed by April 30, 2026.
Parents, guardians, and community members who would like to volunteer at a campus or accompany a student on a field trip must complete a Volunteer Application and pass an annual criminal background check.
Volunteer applications:
- Opens August 1 for the upcoming school year.
- Expires July 31 each year.
- Closes April 30 each school year.
Volunteer applications are submitted through a secure third-party online system, and all criminal background checks are confidential. Most applications are processed within two business days. To allow time to resolve any issues, please submit your application at least two weeks before the date you plan to volunteer or attend a field trip. Read more about our Volunteer Eligibility and Background Check Guidelines.
If you have questions about volunteering, contact Lisa Foster, Communications Coordinator, or contact your child's campus.

Volunteers vs. Visitors
The Splendora Independent School District values the contributions of parents, guardians, grandparents, and community members. Our goal is to provide a safe environment for everyone. You can be involved in your child’s education as a volunteer or visitor.
Volunteers work within the school programs by interacting with teachers and students. These individuals must complete a Volunteer Application. A volunteer's duties may include the following:
- Mentoring students
- Tutoring students
- Working with the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
- Office and Classroom Assistance (Including Room Parents)
- Teacher and Staff Appreciation Activities
- Extracurricular and Community Service Activities
- Attending Field Trips (in any capacity – as a parent or chaperone)
Visitors observe their child without engaging in instructional activities and refrain from interacting one-on-one with other students. These individuals do not need to complete a Volunteer Application. Visitors may:
- Eat lunch with their child, only.
- Attend a school-wide assembly or event.
- Walk their child to class (Each campus has its own rules about this. Please verify that this is allowed on your child's campus.)
- Speak to a class or organization with the teacher or sponsor present.
Note: Visiting during student-only events is prohibited.
Volunteers Should
- Be 18 years of age before the first day of the school year unless supervised by school district personnel.
- Sign in at the front desk and receive a volunteer sticker.
- Dress neatly. Be dependable, interested in making a difference, respectful of teachers, administrators, and students, and faithful to commitments.
- Keep things seen and heard at school confidential.
- Turn behavior problems with a student over to the teacher or campus administrator.
- Share matters of concern with the campus principal.
- Ask questions if they are unsure about anything.
- Avoid expressing dissatisfaction with the school or staff in the presence of students.
- Avoid promoting any specific business, commercial products, or brand names.
- Avoid unexpectedly entering their child's classroom while volunteering during school hours.
