Membership and Terms
The board consists of seven members serving three-year terms, with elections held annually in November on the first Tuesday after the first Monday. One-third of the Board members, or as close to one-third as possible, expire each year. Education Code 11.051(b), .059

Board policy shall state the schedule on which specific terms expire. Education Code 11.059 [See BBB(LOCAL)]

Board members shall be elected by position for three-year terms, with the elections conducted annually, as follows:

Positions 1, 2, and 3
The election for positions 1, 2, and 3 shall be held in 2026, 2029, and 2032 and at three-year intervals thereafter.

Positions​​​​​​​ 4 and 5
The election for positions 4 and 5 shall be held in 2027, 2030, and 2033 and at three-year intervals thereafter.

Positions 6 And 7
The election for positions 6 and 7 shall be held in 2025, 2028, and 2031 and at three-year intervals thereafter.

General Election Date
The election of district board members shall be held on the uniform November election date. Election Code 41.001

Qualifications & Eligibility for Filing for a Position on the Board of Trustees

Policy BBA (Legal)

To be eligible to be a candidate for, or elected or appointed to, the office of school board member, a person must:

  • Be a United States citizen.
  • Be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election or on the date of appointment, as applicable.
  • Have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
  • Have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities [See Ineligibility]. (Ineligibility: A person is ineligible to serve as a member of the board of a district if the person has been convicted of a felony or an offense under Penal Code 43.021 (solicitation of prostitution). Education Code 11.066
  • Have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for six months immediately preceding the following date:
    • For an independent candidate, the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's application for a place on the ballot.
    • For a write-in candidate, the date of the election at which the candidate's name is written in.
    • For an appointee to an office, the date of appointment.
  • Be registered to vote in the territory from which the office is elected on the date described at item 5, above.

A person may not be elected trustee of an independent school district unless the person is a qualified voter. Education Code 11.061(b)

"Qualified voter" means a person who:

  • Is 18 years of age or older;
  • Is a United States citizen;
  • Has not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote;
  • Has not been finally convicted of a felony or, if so convicted, has fully discharged the person's sentence, including any term of incarceration, parole, or supervision, or completed a period of probation ordered by any court; or has been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disability to vote;
  • Is a resident of this state; and
  • Is a registered voter.

KP-0251 (2019) (concluding that the restoration of a convicted felon's qualification to vote under Election Code 11.002(a)(4)(A) after fully discharging a sentence does not restore the person's eligibility to hold public office under Election Code 141.001(a)(4))]

The General Trustee Election for regular terms for Position Nos. 1, 2, and 3 of the Splendora ISD Board of Trustees will be held on November 3, 2026. The first day to file for a place on the General Election Ballot is July 18, 2026. The filing window will close on August 17, 2026. More information will be posted as it is received by the Texas Secretary of State.

The General Trustee Election for regular terms for Position Nos. 4 and 5 of the Splendora ISD Board of Trustees will be held on November 2, 2027. More information will be posted as it is received by the Texas Secretary of State.

The General Trustee Election for regular terms for Position Nos. 6 and 7 of the Splendora ISD Board of Trustees will be held on November 4, 2025. The first day to file for a place on the General Election Ballot is July 19, 2025. The filing window will remain open until August 18, 2025, at 5:00 pm. The Last Day to Register to Vote is October 6, 2025.
Early Voting is from October 20, 2025, through October 31, 2025.
The Last Day to Apply for Ballot by Mail is October 24, 2025. (Received, not Postmarked)
