Turning clay into music—and a student into the teacher!

SHS art student Channing Leitner took the lead in the high school Ceramics and Sculpture classes, showing fellow students how to transform hand-sculpted clay into working whistles!
Last year, Channing challenged himself to master the blade—the part of an ocarina that helps create sound. Through creativity, patience, and persistence, he became our resident clay whistle expert. This year, he stepped up to share that expertise with his classmates!
His guest-teaching debut hit all the right notes, and art teacher Ms. Melissa Nix couldn’t be prouder!
