A student-inspired favorite has become a Wildcat staple!

Splendora ISD Child Nutrition Director Charles Rawls and Region 6 Child Nutrition Specialist Lisa Mays stopped by the Splendora Junior High cafeteria, where the Wildcat Bowl was on the menu!

This fresh, build-a-bowl option—similar to a Chipotle-style bowl—has an extra special Splendora connection: it was inspired by Splendora High School Culinary Arts students! 

The Wildcat Bowl grew from an idea by The Cooking Cats as part of a USDA recipe development contest and was selected alongside another student-inspired dish, the Claw-some Italian Meatball Sub from The Claw-some Cooks.

And Wildcats must have liked what they tasted! The Wildcat Bowl is now offered daily at SJH and once a month at Splendora High School, while the Claw-some Italian Meatball Sub also appears occasionally on the menu.

Our talented Child Nutrition staff brings these student-inspired ideas to life, turning a Culinary Arts project into meals our Wildcats can enjoy in the cafeteria. From the culinary classroom to a daily lunch option, that’s some pretty tasty real-world learning!
