Greetings, Wildcat Nation!
What a great start to the school year! As we move into September, our students are settling into their routines, classrooms are hitting their stride, and there is a great energy across Splendora ISD. I’ve enjoyed being out on our campuses and seeing our students learning, laughing, and simply enjoying being back together.
And now, we get to begin one of my favorite parts of the school year: the start of the fall season in Splendora.
Friday night lights, volleyball matches, cross country meets, band performances, FFA events, and so many other activities are underway. Before long, we’ll celebrate Homecoming, including our 2nd Annual Homecoming Parade. Last year’s parade was a great reminder of what makes Splendora such a special place, and I’m excited to see it continue to grow into one of our community traditions.
There is something pretty special about a small town coming together to celebrate its schools and its kids. Seeing our students, families, staff, alumni, businesses, and community members lining the streets and showing their Wildcat pride is what this community is all about. These traditions connect generations of Wildcats and give our students memories they will carry long after they leave us.
We have a lot to look forward to this fall, both inside and outside the classroom. I hope you’ll join us at a game, a performance, the Homecoming Parade, or one of the many events happening across our district. Come out, support our kids, and enjoy what makes this time of year and this community so special.
Thank you for a wonderful start to the 2026–2027 school year. I’m excited about where we're headed and even more excited about getting there together.

Welcome Back, Splendora Families!
As we begin a new school year, the Splendora ISD Counseling & Wellness Team is excited to welcome our students and families back! A new school year brings new opportunities to learn, grow, build relationships, and discover what is possible. As we settle into new routines, we encourage families to remember that connection is one of the most powerful forms of support we can give our children.
September is Suicide Awareness & Prevention Month
September is a time to bring awareness to suicide prevention and remind our students that they are seen, valued, and never alone. Families play an important role in creating safe spaces where children feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, feelings, and struggles.
Here are a few ways families can help:

Check in often. Ask your child how they are really doing—not just how their day went.

Listen without judgment. Give your child your full attention and allow them to share without immediately trying to solve the problem.

Watch for changes. Notice significant changes in mood, behavior, friendships, sleep, eating habits, or school engagement.

Ask directly. If you are concerned about your child, it is okay to ask if they are thinking about hurting themselves or suicide. Asking does not put the idea in their head.

Stay connected. Make time for meals, conversations, activities, and simple moments together.

Reach out for support. You don't have to navigate difficult moments alone. Your child's campus counselor is available to help connect students and families with resources and support.
A simple conversation can make a difference. A listening ear can provide hope. One caring adult can change a life.
As we begin this school year, let's work together to create a culture where every student knows: You belong. You matter. You are supported.

To commemorate 25 years of excellence in education, H-E-B will award more than $1 million in cash prizes to Texas educators and their schools through the 2027 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program. Nominations are now open, and anyone can nominate their favorite teacher, counselor, principal, school district, school board, or early childhood facility and help them win their share of more than $1 million. From August 12, 2026, through October 9, 2026, the Gifted & Talented Department is accepting referrals to screen for students who may exhibit gifted characteristics and benefit from current programming options in grades 1 and 3-12. Kindergarten and Grade 2nd are universally screened per state and local policy.
This program is designed for students who exhibit any singular or combination of the following abilities or potential to develop capabilities at an extraordinary cognitive level: intellectual, leadership, creativity, artistic, and/or academic achievement.
Services are provided only if the Gifted and Talented Identification Profile reveals an educational need upon assessment and if the need is determined to not be normally served within the general education classroom and could be served by the Gifted and Talented program initiatives.

The Splendora ISD Education Foundation is looking for chef teams for Men (& Women) Who Cook on Saturday, October 24! Teams can include friends, families, coworkers, campus groups, local businesses, or community organizations. You don’t have to be a professional chef—just bring a favorite dish or drink and be ready to have fun while supporting Splendora ISD students and teachers!
