Patriot Day is a national day of remembrance observed on September 11th each year in the United States to honor the victims, heroes, and first responders of the 2001 terrorist attacks, while also reflecting on the unity, courage, and resilience that emerged from the tragedy. The day serves to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost and to carry forward the spirit of compassion and service that characterized the days following the attacks.

Splendora AFJROTC had a 9/11 ceremony to commemorate Patriot Day.  The entire corps of cadets formed up in a military formation led by Cadet Captain Aiden Torre, Cadet Captain Reanne Aumiller, and Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Serenity Grein.  The flag detail for the ceremony was Cadet Major Alfonso Gudino, Cadet First Lieutenant Brandon Araguz, Cadet Second Lieutenant Austin Stepanian, and Cadet Senior Airman Alyssa Cavazos.  The unit came together to salute the flag as the bugle played "Taps." Our speaker was Cadet Second Lieutenant Logan Perry.  JROTC would like to give a big shout-out to Brayden Hansen from the Wildcat band, who played an excellent rendition of Taps for the ceremony.

After the ceremony,  the AFJROTC Corps celebrated the cadets who completed the cadet summer leadership camp by promoting them to cadet Second Lieutenants. The new cadet officers for this year are:  Khloe Guidry, Bradley Ferri, Logan Perry, Chelsea Rabon, and Austin Stepanian.  Amparo Lopez was also promoted to cadet Chief Master Sargent and is now the Corps Chief.
