Strike Up the Fun
We are excited to announce that the SHS Bowling Team has officially debuted this year! It’s a brand-new club, and the season started in October.
Our dedicated bowlers lace up their shoes and hit the lanes for practice every Tuesday afternoon at Time to Spare Entertainment. Here, the athletes perfect their form, fine-tune their spin, and master their strikes. Wednesdays are match days, and the competition is fierce! Matches kick off at 3:45 PM, and most of the games take place at Time to Spare Entertainment, but two away games are scheduled for December 4th at Bowlero in The Woodlands against Grand Oaks High School and December 18th at Conroe 300 Bowl, taking on the Willis Wildkats.
The SHS Bowling Team has 15 boys and six girls. However, only the top eight players each week can compete in the varsity matches. This means the athletes always strive to improve and secure their spot in the lineup.
In addition to Grand Oaks and Willis, the Wildcats will face Lake Creek and Caney Creek. With each game, the bowlers aim to win as a team and showcase their individual skills. Bowling is all about both team and individual achievements. This season, the top two boys’ teams and the top girls’ team from each district will qualify for regionals in March. Additionally, the top five individual boys and girls will have a chance to compete for a spot at regionals individually. And who knows? A strong showing at regionals could be our ticket to the state championships!
The SHS Bowling Team is on a roll—literally! We hope you’ll support the players as they aim for strikes and spares throughout the season. See you at the lanes, and let’s go, SHS!
Bowling Tip of the Day: Did you know that a “turkey” in bowling is when you score three strikes in a row? Here’s hoping for lots of turkeys this season!
