R.B. Tullis Award Recipients Announced

Johnson, Burns, Chapman, and Smith named R.B. Tullis Award Recipients

Cory Johnson, Kevin Burns, Christina Chapman, and Carl Smith are the 2024 recipients of Splendora ISD's R.B. Tullis Award.

Established by the Board of Trustees in May 1995, the R.B. Tullis Award honors community members who have made significant contributions to the Splendora ISD community. Board members nominate individuals for this recognition, and when asked why they nominated these community members, the board members eagerly expressed their gratitude.

“Corey Johnson and Kevin Burns have been integral to our student's success through their steadfast support of booster clubs and educational foundation events. Their unwavering commitment to enhancing the educational experience at Splendora ISD is commendable,” said Board President Allen Wells.

“The primary reason these two were nominated was because of their generous support of two Splendora ISD students during critical times of need. With the help of these two gentlemen, the families of these students received the necessary assistance for their children. Corey and Kevin's contributions have made a significant impact, embodying the spirit of community and support that defines Splendora ISD,” Wells added.

Board Member Jennifer Stewart nominated Christina Chapman. Christina has become indispensable to our school community through her unwavering dedication and cheerful spirit. Her unique ability to tackle any task, no matter how big or small, with a smile, truly exemplifies the spirit of servant leadership. We are proud to have someone like her in our school community.

Christina's tireless efforts and positive attitude make her an exemplary candidate for recognition. We are incredibly fortunate to have someone like her in our school community.

Carl Smith was Splendora Junior High’s Volunteer of the Year, but Board Member Brandon Fry also nominated him for the R.B. Tullis Award. “Carl’s commitment to serving others and positively impacting his community is why he is honored with this prestigious award. From volunteering as a committeeman for the EMC fair, working tirelessly to ensure the success of the livestock show, supporting the local FFA and 4H chapters, supporting local youth baseball/softball, and working as a volunteer inside our schools, his selfless dedication to the betterment of his community serves as an inspiration to others and exemplifies the true spirit of the R.B. Tullis award,” said Fry.

Congratulations to these recipients, and thank you for all you have done! Your contributions have not gone unnoticed, and we are truly grateful for your service.
