Greenleaf Elementary School Replacement Project Update
May 9, 2024 Letter from Superintendent:
Dear Splendora ISD Community,
It is good to see clear skies and the flood waters receding. I'm reaching out to keep you informed regarding the progress of the Greenleaf Elementary replacement school site. In my previous communication dated April 17, I outlined the hurdles the District has encountered with the Greenleaf Elementary School project. Despite our concerted efforts, we've encountered a series of challenges with LGI, the developer of the Pinewood Trails subdivision, where the new Greenleaf campus was slated to be constructed. Given the obstacles with LGI, the Board of Trustees made the decision during their April 29th meeting to pivot towards the alternative site in The Canopies.
The Canopies site, conveniently situated adjacent to the new Junior High site slated for opening in August 2025, presents a viable solution. This location ensures assured access to all essential infrastructure elements, such as roads, utilities, and drainage facilities, all provided by the developer.
Please be assured that our decision-making process remains anchored in the best interests of our students, parents, and taxpayers. We are collaborating closely with our demographers to craft new elementary school zones for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. We will communicate any changes regarding zones in late fall or early spring.
Thank you for your continued support and trust as we move forward with these critical projects.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeff Burke
Superintendent of Schools, Splendora ISD
