Dungeons & Dragons at SJH

SJH students play Dungeons and Dragons

At Splendora Junior High, Tuesday afternoons are filled with creativity, teamwork, and a little bit of fantasy. From 3:30–5:00 p.m. each week, students gather for the school’s Dungeons & Dragons Club, led by teacher Jill Davis.

When asked how this got started, Mrs. Davis said, “I love the game. I have been playing since 1990. Another teacher started the club three years ago, and I began attending because the kids asked me to play. When that teacher didn’t return the next year, I took it over as the sponsor.”

Now, the club thrives under her leadership. Mrs. Davis runs one group herself, while eighth graders step into leadership roles by running two additional groups. This setup not only immerses students in the imaginative world of D&D, but also builds leadership, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

From epic quests to lasting friendships, the D&D Club is more than just a game—it’s a chance for students to grow, lead, and create adventures together.
