CBAS Spotlight - Student Learning & Progress

Student Learning & Progress

Splendora ISD is committed to fostering academic growth for every student by using personalized learning strategies and data-driven instruction. The district's dedication to student success is evident through its focus on measuring progress and tailoring instruction to meet each student's needs.

Splendora ISD recently completed its Beginning of Year (BOY) assessments, including the CLI, MCLASS, and NWEA MAP tests. These assessments offer insights into students' strengths and areas for growth, helping educators shape effective instructional plans.

  • CLI (Children’s Learning Institute) assessments were administered to Pre-K students to evaluate their math skills and phonological awareness, which are crucial for developing foundational learning.
  • mCLASS reading assessments were given to kindergarten through second-grade students, focusing on reading fluency and comprehension. The results showed that while many students are reading below grade level, significant progress is being made.
  • NWEA MAP assessments were administered to students in grades 1-12 to measure growth in both math and reading. Most grade levels met or exceeded predicted growth, showcasing the district’s dedication to helping students improve.

Teachers use this data to create small-group instruction and develop remediation and intervention strategies. This data-driven approach also informs curricular adjustments, ensuring that instruction is responsive to student needs and district goals.

By continually assessing and adjusting instruction based on student performance data, Splendora ISD ensures all students have the opportunity to grow and succeed academically. Through these efforts, Splendora ISD remains steadfast in its mission to provide every student with the tools they need to thrive academically and beyond.
