Perkins named Executive Director of Special Services
We are excited to announce that Mrs. Brandi Perkins has been selected as the Executive Director of Special Services! Mrs. Perkins will take over for Jennifer Stewart, who announced she would be resigning at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.
Mrs. Brandi Perkins comes to us from Sheldon ISD, where she served as a Special Education Coordinator of Assessment and Related Services. This year concludes her 15th year of supporting students, parents, and staff in Special Education. Mrs. Perkins has been a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology since 2007-2008 and has helped large, fast-growth districts and mid-size and smaller rural school districts in Texas.
Mrs. Perkins had the honor of working on the Child Find, Evaluation, and ARD Supports Network through Region IV as an Education Specialist. In this role, she provided professional development training to educators, assessment staff, and school district leadership. She also hosted statewide conferences and collaborated with the Texas Education Agency and education stakeholders across Texas to support students in Special Education and Section 504.
Mrs. Perkins earned her Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Houston and a Master's in School Psychology from Sam Houston State University. She is a certified Licensed Specialist in School Psychology and a doctoral candidate pursuing a Ph.D. in Special Education Leadership from Concordia Lutheran University.
Mrs. Perkins and her husband, Terry, have a collaborative family of 8, including six children from kindergarten through 12th grade. Mrs. Perkins is originally from Splendora, but moved away at a young age and missed out on the full Wildcat experience. Mrs. Perkins' parents are Splendora ISD alums, and she has many extended family and friends who reside in Splendora and have graduated from the school district.
"I am beyond excited and honored to support Splendora ISD as your new Executive Director of Special Services. I look forward to collaborating with our staff, students, and families to continue to build upon such a wonderful department that instills inclusivity, equity, respect, and high standards of education to promote positive student outcomes for all students. I am grateful for this opportunity and cannot wait to begin serving our district. After all these years, I can finally say that I am a Splendora Wildcat!"
