Splendora Schools named CKH National Showcase Schools...Again!
Posted April 16, 2020
On April 14, Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) Founder Flip Flippen announced that all five Splendora ISD campuses were named Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools® for the 2020-2021 school year. (Timber Lakes Elementary was not eligible because this is their first year.) The district now has the opportunity to become a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase SchoolDistrict. Represenetatives from The Flippen Group will evaluate how the Capturing Kids’ Hearts processes are used in other areas of the district (School Board, Transportation, Food Services, District personnel, etc.)
The CKH process was first introduced at Splendora Junior High in 2017. The following year, the remaining four campuses were brought on board. Teachers, staff, and administrators learn and practice skills they use and model in their classrooms, schools, and district. The CKH processes help build positive, meaningful, productive relationships with every student and every colleague. Good Things are shared at the beginning of each class to start on a positive note, social contracts are used to develop self-managing, high-performing classrooms, and they are developed based on how the students and teachers want to be treated by each other.
“It is an incredible honor for each of our campuses to be recognized as National Showcase Schools once again, and it speaks to the intentionality and purposefulness of our adherence to the process. We will continue to focus on building positive, appropriate relationships and using these tools to help our students become better advocates for themselves and others. I would like to thank each of our campus principals for their commitment to our culture,” said Superintendent Jeff Burke.
