New Criteria for Remote Learning
October 2, 2020
Like many districts, we are facing numerous challenges with remote learning. This is certainly a new landscape for all of us, and in our efforts to make sure that our students can be as successful as possible, we are transitioning to a revised plan for remote learning. Because of a lack of academic success for many of our students, as well as attendance concerns, we are moving to an application process for parents who wish for their child to continue with remote learning.
If you want your child to continue with remote learning, you will need to complete an application which will be reviewed by a district committee to determine if your child meets the requirements and criteria to continue. Some of these criteria include: reliable and consistent access to internet, devices, academic success in learning, and consistent attendance. Legitimate health and COVID-19 related issues will also be considered. We will be sending out this application on Monday, October 5th, and it will be due by Monday, October 12th. Following the application and review process, parents will be notified by October 16th if their child is approved or denied. If not approved, your child will be required to return to onsite learning on Monday, October 19th. For those accepted, your child’s teacher(s) will contact you with further information.
Thank you for your understanding and support of our district. As we continue to navigate these challenges, please know that the safety and success of your child are at the forefront of every decision that we make. Several of our students are thriving in the remote environment, but many are not. We want to ensure that we are doing our absolute best to consider every family’s situation and work with each student to set them up for success as we move forward.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your campus principal for more information.
