SHS Band Tunes Up for Contest Season

Posted October 247, 2020
On Saturday, October 24, the Splendora High School Marching Band participated in Pre-UIL Marching Band Contest hosted at Wildcat Stadium. At the contest, the band was awarded the highest rating possible for UIL which is a Division 1 rating. Straight Ones refers to a rating of all three judges unanimously scoring the band at first division level, which also results in the title of being named a Division 1 band program.
"This is a great spot for our program to be in moving forward to UIL." says Mr. Best, Director of Bands for Splendora High School. "We have been hit with multiple hurdles to overcome throughout this extremely tough year, and we proudly came out on top this weekend. The students had only weeks to learn an entirely new marching band drill when they often times have months. It's incredible progress, and I'm so proud of our band students and staff."
The band's next contest is the UIL Region Marching Band Contest at Woodforest Bank Stadium on November 17th. Splendora High School band will represent the only 1A through 4A school in our UIL region to compete this year.
