Carrie Garza became a Wildcat in the Fall of 1989 when she enrolled in Charles R. Dukes Junior High as a 7th grader. At that moment, her life changed, and she knew this community would greatly impact her.
She graduated from Splendora High School in 1995 and enrolled in Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. While completing the last few school courses, she became a substitute teacher at Splendora Elementary in 2000. When she was close to completing her degree in education, she was hired as a fourth-grade teacher at Splendora Intermediate School.
Garza taught for six years as a fourth and second-grade teacher before becoming the Math Coach at Peach Creek Elementary. After serving in that role for several years, she became a teacher in New Caney at Porter Elementary. Garza completed her master's degree in Educational Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University. Soon after moving to New Caney, she became the Assistant Principal at Oakley Elementary School, where she helped open a new campus.
After serving as the Assistant Principal at Oakley, Garza became the Principal of Valley Ranch Elementary in New Caney. She then spent a year off from education to help with the family business. Garza returned to education in 2018 to serve as the Instructional Specialist at Piney Woods Elementary School. She enjoyed leading the Assessment Focus Group, being a part of the Response to Intervention (RtI) team, and working with Piney Woods Elementary teachers, students, and administrators. In 2019, she was named the principal of Timber Lakes Elementary School.
Garza became the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning in 2022 and was named Chief Learning Officer in 2024.
Garza is wholeheartedly dedicated to this community and the education of current and future Wildcats.
