Dr. Carolyn King has been involved in the education field for 36 years. Her career began in 1983 as a school bus driver. During that time she took classes in between her bus runs to complete her Bachelor's degree from the University of Houston in 1990. When she began teaching, she taught kindergarten in Aldine ISD. During the 17 years in the classroom she taught kindergarten, second, third, and fourth grades. She spent three years as an Instructional Specialist. After receiving her Master's degree in 2003 from Sam Houston State University, she went to the Conroe Independent School District and spent five years as an Assistant Principal. Additionally, she earned her Doctorate degree in 2012 from Sam Houston University. Dr. King has been a principal in the Splendora community for the last four years. Dr. King has lived in the Splendora area since 1999 and has been married for 38 years. She has two children and four grandchildren, of which two attend school in Splendora ISD. Dr. King is active in her church with an elementary age Sunday School class and leads a women's ministry group. With everything she does, Dr. King is still committed to encouraging students and adults to be life-long learners.
