Duana Brashear, M.Ed
Duana Sheffield Brashear is proud to serve as the principal of Peach Creek Elementary since 2018. Mrs. Brashear began her career with Splendora ISD in August 2005 teaching first grade at Greenleaf Elementary. Brashear says, “I began my career with Splendora and it’s an honor to give back to the community that has given me so much. Now, more than ever, I realize the importance of leading a school that was once led by the great Dale Martin.”
Brashear earned both her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Sam Houston State University. Throughout her career, Mrs. Brashear has served as the assistant principal for Lexington ISD, assistant principal for Splendora ISD, and a teacher for Cameron ISD. She is grateful for the opportunities afforded by each district. Brashear is married, with two step-children and one daughter. Her daughter, Kylie, is a junior at Splendora High School.
Mrs. Brashear has presented across Texas, engaging audiences in sessions to leverage student learning through high relational capacity. During the 2019-2020 and the 2020-2021 school years, Peach Creek Elementary was recognized as a “Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School,” an honor that Brashear attributes to the love, passion, and dedication shown by all PCE staff members.
Jessica Sowell, M.Ed.
Jessica Sowell is a 2007 Splendora ISD graduate and has been in education since 2011. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2011 and earned her master's degree from Lamar State University with a degree in Educational Technology Leadership in 2019. Mrs. Sowell served as a special education teacher for five years and then went on to serve as a general education teacher in both Kindergarten and 1st grade before becoming the Instructional Specialist at Peach Creek Elementary. She is passionate about students receiving learning experiences that allow's them to extend their own understanding of concepts while making meaningful connections that will mold them into lifelong learners.
Mrs. Sowell has been married to her husband, who she met at Splendora High School, since 2011. They have two boys who are currently at Peach Creek Elementary. Mrs. Sowell fosters building positive relationships with teachers and students and as a mom has embraced Capturing Kids' Hearts practices within her personal household as well.
Staci Davis has been in education since 1999. She taught math at Henderson Middle School in Sour Lake for 11 years and taught in Beaumont, Tatum, and Jasper ISDs. For the past two years, she has been the math coach at Huffman Middle School. Davis graduated from Lumberton High School, received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M in 1998, and her master’s degree in educational administration from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2008. In her spare time, Davis enjoys spending time with her family and attending basketball games. She has been married to her husband, Clay, for 21 years. He is the boys’ basketball coach at Hardin-Jefferson ISD. They have two boys, Jaystan (19) plays basketball for a small college in Kansas, and Clayton, a senior this year, who plays on the Hardin-Jefferson basketball team. Davis is excited for her new adventure as an Instructional Specialist for Splendora ISD!
Mrs. Brown received her Bachelor of Art History degree from the University of Texas and is currently working on her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Western Governors University. Heather has served Splendora ISD in multiple capacities supporting both students and teachers as a team lead, mentor, and curriculum writer. Prior to her work in SISD, Mrs. Brown lived in London, England, where she discovered her passion for education while working with pre-kindergarten students. This experience launched her quest for equitable and personalized learning for all students. Mrs. Brown embraces the SISD strategic direction as evident in her belief that all students deserve high-quality, engaging learning experiences. As a master teacher, she continually brought passion, creativity, and design to the classroom and is excited to extend that passion beyond the classroom. The Department of Teaching and Learning is proud to have Heather as a part of our team to learn with her and from her. Mrs. Brown states, “I am so excited and honored to become a part of the SISD Teaching and Learning team. I can’t wait to bring my enthusiasm and love for both students and teachers to the team! It is truly an honor to serve in this capacity."
