Credit By Exam (CBE)
Credit by Exam (CBE) is a testing program offered by Splendora ISD for currently enrolled students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade. The purpose of CBE testing can be for acceleration (a student wishing to test out of a grade level or course without having prior instruction) or recovery of credit (for a failed course). There is no CBE to skip PreK.
Review this important information prior to completing the CBE application:
- These are rigorous assessments that thoroughly test a student's knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for the course or grade level. By applying, it is presumed that the student has already acquired the necessary skills.
- Students may not attempt CBE for a grade or course that they are currently enrolled in.
- Students who are attempting to test out of the NEXT grade level may register to test on any of the listed dates. If the criteria for acceleration are met, placement in the next grade level will only occur at the start of the following school year.
- For kindergarten students (children who are 5 on or before September 1 are eligible to attend kindergarten) wishing to be enrolled in first grade, the application opens the third Monday in July (July 21, 2025) and closes the day before the first day of school (application closes on August 12 as August 13, 2025 is the first day of school).

2025-2026 Credit by Exam Test Dates
Test Session Dates:
October 20-24, 2025, must register by September 8, 2025
January 19-23, 2026, must register by December 8, 2025
May 4 - 8, 2026, must register by March 23, 2026
July 20-23, 2026, must register by June 8, 2026
