PROFILE: Mr. Carter has served on the Board for 6 years and lived in the community for 46 years. He is a Construction Project Manager. Otis is a Splendora High School Graduate; and Graduate of the Carpenters Apprentice Program. He has served on the School Board, Splendora Youth Basketball Coach, and Splendora Youth Baseball Coach. He is married to Cheryl and have two children, Matthew and Jared. Reasons for serving as a board trustee: "My father served for many years and I learned from him the importance of quality schools. I enjoy serving on the Board and helping to maintain and improve our school district."

PROFILE: Mr. Duke has lived in the Splendora community for 33 years along with his wife Brenda. They have two sons, Andy and Kevin, both graduates of Splendora High School. While their boys were growing up, David volunteered for several years with the East Montgomery County Sports Association both as a coach and baseball commissioner. When the boys reached high school, he volunteered with the athletic booster club serving as president for two years. In 1999, Mr. Duke became a member of the SISD Board of Trustees and continues that role today. David, along with his brother Charles, have owned and operated Duke’s Welding, Inc. for over 38 years manufacturing oil field related tools. Reasons for serving as a board trustee: “I know it is a corny cliché but I believe it is each individual’s responsibility to give back to community in which they live. I can think of nothing more important than working with the superintendent and other board members to improve the education our children receive which will help them lead a full and productive life. Serving on the SISD Board of Trustees has been the most gratifying and rewarding experience of my life other than helping my wife raise our own children.”

PROFILE: Mr. Manzella was originally appointed to the Board in February 2011, but received the community's support when elected in May 2011. He is a retired railroad engineer and has lived in the Splendora ISD community for the past 17 years. He has been married for 25 years and has two children, one who was an early graduate from Splendora ISD and the other in Splendora Junior High. "I am looking to give our children the best education possible, nice schools, good teachers, and a safe environment to get an education," stated Mr. Manzella.

PROFILE: Mr. Muirhead is the newest member to the Board of Trustees. Elected in May 2011, Mr. Muirhead has lived in Splendora ISD his entire life of 33 years. He is a Class of 1995 graduate of SHS and also has two years of college. He has coached and continues to coach little league basketball, softball, and football. He and his wife Angela have been married for over 13 years and have four children. Mr. Muirhead's response to serving, "I have always had a deep conviction to serve my community. I look forward to the opportunity to continue my service as a Splendora ISD School Board Trustee."
